Remember those friendship bracelets we used to make for one another back in elementary school? These are a play on those except that instead of colorful thread, they’re made of human hair. And I guess they’re a bit naughtier too since they say “Fuck Fur,” but the idea of camaraderie – towards our furry friends – is still intact.

I initially played with the idea of making accessories out of my hair when I saw that one of my favorite designers, Victoria Bartlett, did it, so I waited patiently until it was time to get a haircut and chopped off an extra long strand at the nape of my neck. My thinking was that if we’re willing to wear the fur of other animals, why not our own?

What do you guys think about these human hair bracelets? Is this more disgusting than wearing fur?

Hadouuuuken! Okay, I know that’s not what Chun Li says. What does she say – yatta? That doesn’t even make sense because that’s Japanese and she’s supposed to be Chinese but that’s neither here nor there. ANYHOO, if you own a cheongsam (Chinese-style dress), this is a really easy costume to put together with items you already own, stuff you can pick up at your local thrift shop, or you can buy the one you see above here!
