Perhaps you’re a non-traditional bride looking for a unique way to present your wedding programs, or perhaps you’re a traditional bride hoping to incorporate a confetti toss at the end of your ceremony. Or perhaps you’re a groom. Whatever the case may be, these DIY confetti-filled glassine bags are a lovely way to shout out all of the VIPs in your wedding while also acting as a pretty receptacle for lavender, bird-safe rice hearts or biodegradable eco-confetti. Read on to see how you can make them!
Materials for DIY Confetti-Filled Wedding Programs
– Glassine bags
– Lavender, bird-safe rice hearts or biodegradable eco-confetti (or a mixture of all three). You could also make your own confetti by recycling old paper or magazines.
– Clear printable sticker paper
– An inkjet printer
– Stickers or washi tape
– Microsoft Word, Photoshop or other image layout software
Step 1: First, create your program design. You can do this DIY-style on your computer, or if you want to go to a professional, our friend Beverly over at Kake Digital is fabulous. Be sure to explain that you’ll be printing these on glassine, and that the object is for the confetti bits to be visible through the design.
Step 2: Next, print! You can try printing directly on the glassine bags, or you can print on clear sticker paper and then stick that onto your glassine bags. I tried both and had trouble with the direct printing method, but you may have better luck. For the sticker paper, I printed two programs to a sheet and then sliced the sheet in half using a paper cutter.
Step 3 (skip this step if you’re printing directly onto your bags): Peel the backing off of your sticker paper and adhere it to your glassine bag.
Step 4: Fill your glassine bags with a small scoop of your eco-confetti mixture. Be careful not to overfill. Most people will only need a small handful.
Step 5: Fold down the top of your bag and seal it shut with a sticker or some colorful washi tape.
I hope this DIY comes in handy for your wedding. If you give it a try, I’d love to see pics of your finished programs!
