Have you ever gone last-minute shoe shopping for a special event like a wedding, a date or a vacation because you felt that you simply did not own a pair of shoes that would be suitable for the occasion? I have, and over a hundred pairs of shoes later, I realized that I really didn’t need that many shoes – no one on earth does. But what was making me feel that I did?
A little “sole”-searching (I’m sorry for going there) led to an understanding of my behavior patterns and a solution that seems to be working for me. The main problem was that my mental inventory of what kinds of shoes I already owned was very foggy because many of my shoes were stored away in boxes and I just couldn’t recall that I even had them. The issue is very similar to the one that we tackled with the fridge triage box – if you can readily see what you have, you can use it to its fullest potential. But unlike with food, it’s not like I could just pile all of my shoes in one giant box; well, I could, that would drive an organization freak like myself bonkers. So I decided on the next best thing – a Pinterest shoe board collection showing all of my shoes right at my toetips! This simple idea is saving me a ton of time getting ready because there’s no need to rifle through all of your shoeboxes searching for a pair that will match your outfit, and it also saves you from needlessly buying yet another pair of silver, strappy sandals because you forgot that you already own 3 of them. If you are an avid Pinner, you probably already know how to create such a board, but just in case you’re not, read on to see how you can create your own money-saving, time-saving, waste-saving Pinterest shoe collection.
