You may have seen celebs rockin’ sassy tassel necklaces on the runways, and for good reason. They’re elegant, easy to throw on and totally in tune with the swinging 70s trend for this spring.
This particular tassel necklace has special significance because it is made from a very special silver grey tassel. During my F.I.T. days, the famous french perfumery Caron held a competition to design their storefront window for the annual Bridal march down Madison Avenue, and boy were my friends and I amazed when we found out our concept took first prize! Not really knowing what the heck we were doing (were we actually putting together a store window on Madison Ave.?! we wondered), we toiled for days perfecting everything in our window until it was exactly the vignette of romance we imagined it to be. On opening night, Caron held a cocktail reception honoring the new window and I still remember the feeling of getting a goodie bag (I’d never gotten one at a fancy party before!) and reaching in to find, amongst other trinkets, this silky tassel. So that I would never forget that feeling, I slipped a chain through it and wore it around my neck – and it still smells like Caron‘s signature scent.
